Drawings

Observational Drawings. The same day we we’re given this task, we spent the morning workshop sketching observational objects, such as a chair and even a person, I developed my drawing, especially by using ink and pens, .We we’re given the task to draw 4 drawings as part of our independent study, this is from a observational point of view, I focused on items around my room, a candle and a lantern, as well as some books.  I found that the lantern and the candle drawing looked the best, in my opinion the inked lines made it stand out.  I wanted to experiment, by using different materials I was able to practice with materials that I wouldn’t normally use, I bought some pastels, that turned out to be chalk, however I still told the opportunity, and I drew an old vintage clock in front of a Russian doll.

I feel as if I captured the face on the doll quite well, however I found it hard to control the chalk, and it was difficult to create the detail that I wanted.  This task encouraged me to draw, and It motivated me to experiment with some of my ideas, I did I few sketches in another sketch book, the ideas weren’t from a mundane object, but rather made up, I enjoyed creating an image that didn’t quite make sense.

I actually quite like these types of drawings, and I was much more motivated to do them then focusing on a candle or a person.  I was able to develop some ideas which allowed me to come up with some really creative designs that are quite unusual, but in my opinion, much more interesting than drawing a person.
